The single greatest threat we face as a nation is a further meltdown of our economy due to unsustainable spending levels and unmanageable debt. We can no longer afford deficit spending. We need to ask ourselves, are we ready to pay for what we want? Can we reach consensus to eliminate deficit spending? Swift and aggressive action against out of control federal spending is my top priority. I support a constitutional amendment requiring balanced budgets. It is simple common sense for our expenditures to match our revenues. I do not support raising taxes to feed an overgrown, inefficient federal government. Government waste, unnecessary subsidies, and overgrown entitlement programs jeopardize our economic future. We cannot rely on big government to solve all of our problems. Fiscal responsibility is critical to maintaining our status as the global leader.
